Heavy Archers are one of the two types of Ranged Units that can be recruited from the Barracks. As an advanced Unit type, they can only be trained after researching the Strategic Policy Machinery.
Heavy Archers are equipped with crossbows, longbows, and other heavy ranged weapons perfected to pierce even the strongest armor. With the highest Armor Piercing rating in the game, they are particularly effective at taking down armored units like Sword Infantry.

Heavy Archers are the ideal choice for facing down Units with high Armor. If you are facing off against a foe that utilizes lots of Sword Infantry or Heavy Cavalry, it's a good idea to bring them along. As an advanced unit, Heavy Archers are the key choice for Leaders with enough resources to train more powerful Ranged Units. They are an ideal choice for defensive troops and can replace Archers in later stages.
