Archers are one of the two types of Ranged Units that can be recruited from the Barracks. As one of the base units, they are immediately available from the Barracks as soon as the game begins.
Archers use shortbows, slings, or other basic ranged weapons to strike down enemies from afar. They are particularly effective at combating enemy Infantry units, but are weak against Light Cavalry.

Archers are relatively cheap to recruit and have an inherent defensive bonus when defending Settlements. They are an ideal choice for defensive troops in the early game and can be replaced with Heavy Archers in later stages.
